Fun Bar Crawl Night in Hiraka
Hi everyone, Casey and Robbie here again! We recently had an awesome time at a bar crawl event in Hirakawa. This used to be regular event, but this was the first one in four years! Our friends Laura and Linford from Kuroishi came with us. We went to four different bars out of forty. At each bar, we got a drink and a stamp. We really liked the hot nihonshu! It was an amazing opportunity to explore Hirakawa. We didn’t realize just how many great places to relax and hang out there right here in town!
After we got all four stamps, we went back to where we started and entered a raffle. We won some tasty snacks! There were also big prizes like a bike and a TV. This event was more than just about drinks; it was about having a good time with friends and helping local bars. We hope it happens again next year. If you are in Hirakawa next year, you should try it!
平賀はしご酒まつり
こんにちは、ケーシーとロビーです！
私たちは平賀地区で開催された、はしご酒のイベントで素晴らしい時間を過ごしました。このイベントは4年ぶりに行われました。私たちの友達のローラとリンフォードが黒石から一緒に参加しに来てくれました。40軒のお店のうち、私たちは4軒の店を訪れました。それぞれの場所で、ドリンクを一杯ずつ飲んでスタンプをもらいました。私たちは特に熱燗が気に入りました。平賀地区の素敵な場所を見つけるのは本当に楽しかったです。
4つのスタンプを全部集めた後、スタート地点に戻って抽選に参加しました。私たちは美味しいお菓子を当てました！他にも自転車やテレビなどの大きな賞品があり、当てたかったなと思いました。このイベントはドリンクだけでなく、友達と楽しい時間を過ごし、地元のお店を応援することが目的のようです。
来年もまた開催されることを願っています。みなさんも、来年平川市に来て、ぜひ試してみてくださ

Ten Cities Festival
Hello from Casey and Robbie! We had the joy of attending the Ten Cities Festival here in Hirakawa. This event celebrates ten wonderful cities from our Aomori Prefecture, and this year, Hirakawa was the proud host.
The festival was full of delicious foods, from common festival favorites to special dishes from cities like Hachinohe and Misawa. We also explored booths that showcased local products such as tea and ceramics.
A standout moment was seeing Hirakawa's famous "Sekai Ichi" Neputa. As the world's largest fan-style Neputa, it was truly a centerpiece. The parade was vibrant, and we especially enjoyed the Misawa segment that reminded us of home.
Excitingly, the Ten Cities Festival will be in Kuroishi next year, which is close to Hirakawa. We can't wait to go again. If you have the chance, come join the fun and discover the best of Aomori!
10市大祭典
こんにちは、ケーシーとロビーです！私たちは平川市で開催された10市大祭典に参加しました。このイベントは、青森県内の素晴らしい10市のお祭りで、今年は平川市が誇るべきホストシティとなりました。
祭りには美味しい食べ物がたくさんあり、人気のあるお祭りをはじめとして、八戸市や三沢市のスペシャルな料理まで楽しむことができました。また、地元の名産品を展示するブースも探索しました。そこではお茶や陶磁器などもありました。
特に印象的だったのは、平川市の有名な「世界一」のねぷたを見ることでした。世界最大の扇スタイルのねぷたとして、それは本当に象徴的な存在です。パレードは活気に満ちており、三沢の出し物については、私たちの故郷を思い出させる雰囲気で、とても楽しめました。
来年、10市大祭典は黒石で開催される予定です。近くですから、私たちは再び参加できると思うと、今から待ちきれません。機会があれば、みなさんも楽しんで参加し、青森のすばらしさを発見してください！！

Kaze no tani
Hello, it's Casey and Robbie again! Today we're eager to share our experience at Kaze No Tani, a popular restaurant in Hirakawa. We've visited several times and even brought friends from Kuroishi, Hirosaki, and Tokyo. Everyone enjoyed the diverse menu, with the ramen being a particularly recommended option.
What truly makes Kaze No Tani stand out is the incredible animals! The restaurant is home to live tortoises and a large number of indoor aquariums with many species of fish. As animal lovers, we appreciate how well the creatures are cared for, and it's a delight to watch them while enjoying our meals. (fish is NOT on the menu) The cozy and inviting atmosphere, complete with soft lighting and ample seating, is complemented by the warm and friendly staff and owners who always make us feel welcome.
In addition to the delicious ramen, Kaze No Tani offers a wide variety of menu options, including local strawberries and daily lunch specials. If you find yourself in Hirakawa, we highly recommend stopping by Kaze No Tani for a fantastic meal surrounded by remarkable fish and tortoise friends!
風の谷
こんにちは、ケーシーとロビーです！ 今日は、平川市の人気レストラン、風の谷での体験を共有したいと思います。 私たちは何度か訪れ、黒石、弘前、東京から友達を連れてきました。 多彩なメニューをみんなに楽しんでもらいましたが、特におすすめはラーメンです。
風の谷の特徴といえば、信じられないほどの生き物です！ レストランには、生きたカメと、多くの種類の魚がいるたくさんの水槽があります。 動物愛好家の私たちとしては、生き物たちが本当にきちんと世話されているかが分かり、素晴らしいと感じました。そんな中で、食事を楽しみながら生き物たちを見るのは楽しいことです(もちろん魚はメニューにありません) 。店内では、柔らかな照明と十分な座席を備えた居心地の良い雰囲気だし、温かくフレンドリーなスタッフとオーナーがいつも私たちを歓迎してくれます。
美味しいラーメン以外にも、地元産のいちごや日替わりランチなど、豊富なメニューを取り揃えています。 平川市にお越しの際は、「風の谷」に立ち寄って、素晴らしい魚やカメの仲間に囲まれたワンダフルな食事をお楽しみください。

Winter Sights
Robbie and Casey visited the Hirosaki Snow Lantern festival, where we saw beautiful snow lanterns carved by local artists and community groups. We also saw a stunning projection mapped light show on a sculpture of a building, which was very impressive. Hirosaki castle looked beautiful in the snow as well! We were photographed in front of it, and our picture ended up in the newspaper!
Robbie and Casey also love the winter illuminations right here in Hirakawa. There are many displays of lights put up in winter. Our favorite are the displays in the park across from the new Hiraka City Hall. We also especially love the lantern tunnel in front of Hiraka Station, which always feels warm and magical!
Overall, Robbie and Casey had a wonderful time exploring the winter festivals and illuminations in our local area. We highly recommend visiting Hirosaki and Hirakawa during the winter season to see the beautiful light displays and enjoy the cozy atmosphere!
冬景色
ロビーとケイシーは、弘前雪燈籠まつりを訪れ、地元のアーティストや地域の人たちによって彫られた美しい雪燈籠を見ました。また、建物の彫刻にプロジェクション マッピングを映した、見事な光のショーも見られ、非常に印象的でした。
雪の弘前城はとても綺麗でした！偶然にも、新聞に、城の前にいた私たちの写真が掲載されていました！
弘前の冬景色と同様に、ロビーとケイシーはここ平川市の冬のイルミネーションも大好きです。冬にはライトアップされたところがたくさんあります。何と言っても私たちのお気に入りは、新庁舎の向かいにある公園のライトアップです。 また、平賀駅前の提灯トンネルはいつも暖かくて幻想的な雰囲気を醸し出してくれます！
]今年、ロビーとケイシーは私たちの地域の冬のフェスティバルやイルミネーションを探索する素晴らしい時間を過ごしました。冬の平川市は弘前にも負けず、美しい光の演出とアットホームな雰囲気が魅力です！

sakuranbo「さくらんぼ」
Robbie and Casey usually work at our schools, but during school vacations we love to visit local cafes and restaurants near the city hall for lunch. The city hall recently moved from Onoe to the new Hiraka city hall, so we got the chance to explore the new area for delicious food.
We found Sakuranbo online, but as it turns out, Robbie walks by it almost every day!
We were surprised and happy to have discovered such a great place right in our neighborhood. The location is very convenient. It is less than a five minute walk from Hiraka station or Hiraka city hall.
We loved the cozy seating at the counter and the friendly cook who chatted with us while she prepared our food. Robbie especially loved the yakisoba, and Casey enjoyed the choco banana parfait. We were both very impressed with the food and the atmosphere of the restaurant.
We look forward to getting to go back to Sakuranbo for lunch during the next school break, as well as trying more great local spots!

私たち（ロビーとケイシー）は通常、平川市内の学校で働いていますが、夏休みや冬休みは市役所での勤務なので、昼食のために市役所近くの地元のカフェやレストランへ行くのにハマっています。
最近、教育委員会が尾上から平賀の新庁舎に移転したので、新しいエリアでおいしい食べ物を探すチャンスができました。
ネットで「さくらんぼ」というレストランを見つけたのですが、実は、ロビーの通勤の道なのに、気づかないで、ほぼ毎日通り過ぎていました！
私たちの近所にこんなに素晴らしい場所があることに驚き、サイコーの気分になりました。しかも、平賀駅や平賀市役所から歩いて５分かからないんですもの。
私たちは、居心地良いカウンター席と、料理を準備している間、おしゃべりをしてくれるフレンドリーなおかみさんが大好きです。
ロビーは焼きそばに眼が無くて、ケーシーはチョコバナナパフェが大のお気に入りです。
私たち２人は、食べ物のおいしさとレストランの雰囲気に大満足しています。
今度の春休みには、また「さくらんぼ」に戻ってランチを食べたり、地元の素晴らしいスポットを探検したりする のを楽しみにしています!

First experience, sowing memories at Saruka Shrine!
We had a wonderful experience recently at Saruka Shrine in Hirakawa City. We were warmly welcomed by the friendly folks at the shrine and had the opportunity to participate in both the annual rice planting and harvesting ceremonies.
The planting in May was a great introduction to the process. It was very satisfying to harvest the same rice when we returned in October! The ceremony included a procession with a priest performing harvest rites, and we were able to help with the harvesting process. We wore traditional outfits and used traditional tools to cut and collect the rice. We participated alongside fifth grade students from Saruka elementary school for both the planting and the harvest.
The rice field was muddy and there were many frogs, which we both enjoyed very much. It was a great community experience and very authentic. We learned a lot about the importance of rice in Japanese culture and the significance of the harvest ceremony.
We were grateful for the warm reception and the opportunity to be a part of this special tradition. We are looking forward to returning next year for another authentic experience at Saruka Shrine.
猿賀神社での稲作初体験！
ちょっと前ですが、平川市の猿賀神社で本当に素敵な体験をしました。
私たちは親切な神社の人たちに温かく迎えられ、毎年行われる田植えと稲刈りの儀式に参加するチャンスをもらったのです。
5月に行われた田植えは、田植えがどうやって進むのかを知る上でとても良い機会でした。
10月の稲刈りの儀式に戻ってきた時、成長した稲を刈り取ることができ、とてもハッピーでした。
儀式では、神主さんによる収穫の儀式の様子を見習って、私たちは収穫作業を手伝うことができました。
伝統的な衣装を身にまとい、伝統的な道具を使って稲刈りや稲の回収を行いました。
嬉しいことに、田植えも稲刈りも、猿賀小学校の５年生と一緒に参加しました。
初めての体験ですが、田んぼは泥だらけで、カエルがたくさんいて、めちゃくちゃ驚きましたが、二人ともすごく楽しめました。
とても本格的で素晴らしい地域行事でした。日本文化における米の重要性や収穫祭の意義など、多くのことを学びました。
温かい歓迎を受け、この特別な伝統行事に参加する機会を得たことに感謝しています。来年もまた、猿賀神社でこうした本格的な体験ができることを楽しみにしています。

I’m Hirakawa city’s newest ALT． I arrived on November 9th, 2021.
I’m from the USA, from the state of Texas!
The climate in Aomori is totally different from Texas! Texas is very hot and snow is very rare. It took me some time , but i've gotten used to the cold here and I love the snow!
I have many hobbies, but some of my favorite things to do are travel, make all kinds of art, and to go hiking.
I love nature, so I’m very happy here Hirakawa City！

アメリカ出身です。テキサス州出身です！
青森県とテキサス州の気候は全然違います！テキサス州は、とても暑くて雪が珍しいです。少し時間がかかりましたけど、青森県の寒さに慣れたので雪が大好きです！
いっぱい趣味がありますけど、一番好きなことは旅行したり、色々な種類のアートを作ったり、それとハイキングをします。
自然が大好きだから、平川市に暮らしていて本当に嬉しいです！
